This year at WordCamp London, we’re holding a special session on Gutenberg, the new WordPress editing experience. Project Gutenberg is a huge change to WordPress, and will fundamentally alter the way you write and publish.
We want to facilitate the necessary transitions, and share the knowledge we possess as a community in a way which helps others get to grips, and move forward, with the new editor.
Announcing Gutenbar
Gutenbar is an experiment to achieve this. It does not form part of the traditional ‘conference’ schedule, but it will be held during lunchtime on Sunday, between 12:30 – 13:30 in the Activities Room (GCG-08).
What can you expect from the Gutenbar?
It’s not an intro to Gutenberg
As much as we’d love to include it, the Gutenbar session is not intended to be an introduction to Gutenberg. There will be a pre-recorded video you can watch which will explain some of the basic concepts behind the project, and expose the features and functionality available to WordPress users today. We’ve also provided additional resources below as an introduction to Gutenberg.
What’s Gutenbar for?
The session itself is intended as an opportunity to demo what others in the community have already been doing with Gutenberg, and a panel discussion where business owners and agency representatives discuss how they’re approaching the transition, and share their tips for moving forward with Gutenberg.
There will be a short opportunity to ask live questions, but we’re asking that discussion points and questions are submitted in advance of the event. These will be put through a vote, and the top 3 – 5 discussion points can be openly agreed on and shared in advance of the session.
Please bear in mind, with only 1 hour available to us, we want to focus this discussion on the following outcomes and aims:
Moving forward with Gutenberg
- Supporting devs, agencies, business owners through the necessary transitions by sharing approaches and experiences
- Demo and showcase the great work others have done with Gutenberg!
